Agenda Item Summary:
The attached presentation presents the ACPS Priority Areas for the 2024-2025 school year. This year the ACPS Priority Areas have been aligned to the new Virginia Support Framework utilized in creating the Division Support Plan and School Improvement Plans. Improvements were made in accelerating the identification of priorities, use of formative data, and building out the division’s support plan in spring instead of summer months allowing summer months now for further refinement of planning and beginning direct implementation of action steps. The SY 24-25 Priority Areas represent an extension, refinement, and coherence of the current year’s priority areas to highlight critical multi-year efforts identified through data and aligned with the ACPS Equity for All strategic plan. The Priority Areas and their direct alignment into the SY 24-25 Division Support Plan allow for clear organizational alignment, prioritization, and cohesion of work across the entire system.

Background:
The ACPS 2024-2025 Priority Areas highlight specific areas for intentional prioritization and aligned efforts for next school year. The identification of division priority areas has been intentionally accelerated to spring to allow summer months for more focused planning and implementation of key action steps within the Division Support Plan. As in previous years, the 2024-25 Priority Areas were arrived upon through the utilization of data-informed decision making; however, this year advancements were made in the use of key formative data indicators across areas and the use of a collective Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) process. As with the current school year, the 2024-2025 Priority Areas are delineated into areas focused on the instructional core of our work and the governance areas that support the instructional core. The ACPS Equity for All 2025 strategic plan serves as the overall roadmap for the Priority Areas by setting the organizational vision, mission, core values, goals, and strategies.
