Agenda Item Summary:

The 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 School Board Meeting Calendars have been developed to align with the academic calendar, key budget dates, student holidays and other School Board obligations.
The School Board meets approximately twice per month for regular School Board Meetings except in cases where meetings conflict with holidays, events or other obligations. These meeting calendars align with the academic calendar and key budget dates. The calendar also takes religious holidays into account during which work may be restricted.

Background:
|
On January 5, 2023, the Board amended policy BCA – School Board Organizational Meeting which moved the organizational meeting from January to July in order to allow changes to board member leadership and assignments to change with each new school year rather than midway through. It also created a structure for newly elected board members to serve under existing, experienced leadership.
The change to July created a very small window between the adoption of the upcoming year’s School Board Meeting Calendar and the start of the school year. To account for this, two years of meeting calendars will be adopted. In the following year, the upcoming year’s calendar will be affirmed or revised, and the following year’s calendar will be newly adopted.

The Superintendent recommends that the School Board approve the attached School Board Meeting Calendars for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 Sschool years.
